Check the simple causes
Record dose, yield, and time. A long time is only comparable when the shot reached the same yield. Check that the machine is warm, the basket is clean, and the dose fits the basket.
A shot that stops can make flow uneven. Do not force it to finish at any cost.
Make one coarser change
Move one small grinder step coarser. Keep dose, target yield, and preparation the same. The next shot should reach the same yield with less resistance.
If your grinder has large steps, record the step and judge the flow before changing anything else. Settings do not transfer between grinders.

If flow does not return
Check the basket dose range, blocked holes, grinder, coffee freshness, machine cleanliness, and the machine manual. Time and taste cannot prove a mechanical fault.
If the shot becomes fast but still tastes harsh, return to the setting you can repeat and test yield on its own.

Is a 45-second espresso always bad?
No. No single time makes a shot good or bad. Here, 45 seconds is a signal to check resistance when the same yield is being compared.
Should I tamp more lightly?
A level, repeatable tamp matters more than pressure by feel. Use grind as the first resistance change after you confirm the dose fits the basket.
Could the machine be blocked?
Yes. If water flow is abnormal without coffee or the machine acts outside its instructions, stop and follow the cleaning or service guidance.
