Cookies and storage
What this site saves in your browser, what may leave it, and how you can remove saved data.
Your browser can save a setup draft, a setup receipt, your feedback, shot records, and Test Lab drafts.
Each visit sends the data needed to load and protect the site. Vercel measures site use and speed without cookies. If we turn on Google Analytics, it runs after the page loads and uses cookies from this site.
Vercel may receive hosting and site-use data. Google may receive site-use data if we turn on Google Analytics. A store may set its own cookie after you choose an affiliate link.
During one browser session, the site may remember campaign tags and your first page. Session storage normally clears when you close the tab. Other saved records stay until you or the site removes them.
At launch, Espresso Receipt does not use advertising cookies or ad retargeting.
The detailed policy below controls if this summary leaves out a detail.
Purpose: restore the current budget, drink, routine, space, café spending, and answers about a grinder you own on the same browser. Location: first-party local storage. Duration: until cleared or replaced by a newer draft.
Purpose: restore a receipt you explicitly save without changing its recorded result or catalog and model version numbers. Location: separate first-party local storage. Duration: until you or the application removes it.
Purpose: remember a Yes, Close, or No response and controlled reason choices for the saved receipt. Location: first-party local storage. The feedback control does not collect free text or contact information.
Purpose: restore saved shots, linked results, an unfinished follow-up, and optional coffee, roast-date, and grinder-setting labels on the same browser. Location: first-party local storage. The optional text labels are not included in analytics events.
Purpose: organize the saved receipt, active next-shot record, and shot history already held on this browser. When saved records exist, Saved setup can remove the saved receipt, feedback, and Fix a shot records. To remove an unfinished setup draft, clear this site's storage in your browser. It does not remove Test Lab Workbench drafts, which have their own clear control. It does not sync these records to an account.
Purpose: route traffic, protect the service, prevent abuse, and maintain availability. Provider: site hosting and security infrastructure.
Vercel Web Analytics measures aggregate page use and product events without cookies. Vercel Speed Insights runs on every visit and measures aggregate Web Vitals without cookies.
When Google Analytics is configured for the site, it loads after the page becomes interactive and measures page use, acquisition, Find my setup completion, result feedback, saving, sharing, comparison, Saved setup state categories, Fix a shot starts and controlled outcome categories, source opens, and outbound-product events.
Optional measurement can include controlled categories and coarse input or history bands, but not Fix a shot coffee labels, grinder-setting labels, exact recipes, feedback free text, or contact information. Analytics delivery is best-effort and never required to use the service.
Google Analytics _ga and _ga_<container-id> first-party cookies distinguish visitors and preserve session state; Google lists a default expiration of two years.
For measurement, first-party session storage keeps non-empty campaign values from the first page you open: campaign_source from utm_source, campaign_medium from utm_medium, campaign_name from utm_campaign, campaign_term from utm_term, campaign_content from utm_content, gclid, and fbclid.
It keeps the first page path as entry_path and uses landing_path for the first landing event. These values help connect page visits to campaign and entry reports.
Duration: the current browser page session, normally until you close the tab. They persist through navigation and reloads in that tab. If session storage is blocked, the site still works and measurement continues without these stored values.
Purpose: reconstruct a receipt for another person. Location: visible URL parameters containing setup answers. Treat the URL as shareable: anyone who receives it can read those values and open the recalculated receipt.
A merchant may set its own cookie after you choose an affiliate link so it can attribute a qualifying transaction under its policy.
Saved setup can remove the saved receipt, feedback, and Fix a shot records when they exist. To remove an unfinished setup draft, clear this site's storage in your browser. Saved setup cannot remove Test Lab Workbench drafts; Workbench has a separate clear control.
Browser settings can also clear or block cookies and site storage. Clearing local storage removes unfinished setup drafts, receipt snapshots, locally stored feedback, and Fix a shot experiments. Blocking measurement may reduce analytics without preventing the setup, save, restore, comparison, or feedback controls from working; analytics delivery is best-effort. Google also offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Retailer controls apply after you leave Espresso Receipt for a third-party site.
Shared receipt URLs visibly contain setup answers. Do not copy or send one if you do not want those values disclosed to the recipient or services involved in delivering and opening the link.
The U.S.-directed launch loads measurement automatically once the page is interactive and does not show a general consent banner. We will revisit controls and this policy before entering additional jurisdictions or introducing technology that requires additional choice or notice under applicable law.
See the Privacy Policy for information about technical logs, service providers, retention, and privacy requests. This Cookie Policy will carry a new updated date when the technology mix materially changes.
